Help please!
by Gail Harrison - Thursday, 3 December 2009, 03:49 PM

Indigo Shire are holding a short film festival and wanted some of the digital stories we have produced here, or others through YCEN projects. I saved 4 digital stories onto a CD and sent them in. I have just been contacted to say they are unable to open them. I checked them all here and they were fine. They are saved as WMV files. Apparently the fellow doing this wants them as data files. I've been looking on the internet and found converters but not for what I need. This is over my head and I wondered if anyone can help, or let me know the name of a converter? Thanks in anticipation! Kind Regards, Gail

Hi Gayle
The people you are sending the files to need to let you know what audio/video format they want the files in. What program do you use to open your copy of the files? It may be that they currently don't have a compatible program to run the files.

I f you need further help let me know there are some programs that can covert video files from one format to another.

cheers
Daryl

Have had a think and imagine David wants them as DVD disks, which means VOB files, VTS files etc and so on - the type that you would see if you copied a dvd to your pc..
Try this, it's open source I believe and could help you.
If you would like, and are passing The Centre in Wang we might have some tools there that can do it easily enough, or sing out for any other help
cheers
